The New Jersey Highlands Coalition will hold its 2021 Annual Meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, featuring a keynote speech about climate change and mitigation strategies from New Jersey State Climatologist Dr. David Robinson.

Members of the general public are invited to attend the free event over Zoom at 3 pm.

During the keynote, Dr. Robinson, will present sobering information about the reality of climate change and explore the opportunities available to us to protect against its worst impacts.

“We are thrilled that Dr. Robinson will be our keynote speaker at the annual meeting this year,” said Julia Somers, executive director of the New Jersey Highlands Coalition.

“Dr. Robinson is a climatologist and geographer with research interests in the earth’s cryosphere, in particular hemispheric and regional snow cover dynamics and interactions of snow cover with other climate elements. He has been the Distinguished Professor in the Department of Geography at Rutgers University since 2018.”

During the Annual Meeting, the Coalition will formally elect new trustees and officers to the Board, and award recognition to multiple deserving individuals who have been effective in their Highlands advocacy efforts in the past twelve months.

The beneficiaries of the 2021 Highlands Coalition Small Grants program will also be announced at the Annual Meeting. This year, eight Highlands grassroots groups will receive grants.
